2.the Eco ICT certification

the Eco ICT certification

Shodai is revamping its initiatives for environmental considerations and reduction of environmental burden in an effort to obtain the Eco ICT certification issued by the ICT Ecology Guideline Council (*1).

The ICT Ecology Guideline Council advocates collaboration between the manufacturers and users (including telecommunications carriers) of ICT equipment to reduce power consumption in the ICT field, thereby contributing to the reduction of CO2 emissions.

(*The Council consists of five industry organizations: the Telecommunications Carriers Association; the Telecom Services Association; the Japan Internet Providers Association; the Communications and Information Network Association of Japan; and the ASP-SaaS Industry Consortium. It aims to promote the spread of the "Ecology Guidelines for the field of ICT," drafted as an industry initiative solution for the prevention of global warming.)

3.the Challenge 25 Campaign

チャレンジ25 未来が変わる。日本が変える。

What is the Challenge 25 Campaign?

Worldwide efforts are being made to tackle the threat of global warming, which threatens the survival of the human race. The Kyoto Protocol, which went into effect on February 16, 2005, stipulates that, in the period between 2008 to 2012, Japan must reduce emission levels for greenhouse gases such as CO2 by 6% from the 1990 level. Various measures have been promoted since that time.

At the United Nations Summit on Climate Change held September 2009 in New York, then-Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama revealed Japan's intention to reduce its emissions by 25% from the 1990 level by 2020.

In order to protect the environment of Japan and the rest of the world to ensure it remains for future generations, the government has decided to mobilize all available policies to promote measures for global warming reduction in a movement it calls "Challenge 25". On January 14, 2010, the Challenge 25 Campaign was kicked off as a national movement for this cause.

The Challenge 25 Campaign builds on the previous national campaign called "Team Minus 6%" to pursue more aggressive actions toward reducing CO2 emission levels. It describes specific actions that can be taken at home and at the office, covered in its "Six Challenges," and calls for the public to incorporate them into their daily life for CO2 emission reduction.
