corporate social responsibility
1. Support for sporting activities

Shodai extends support to Osaka-based soccer club Techno-Net Osaka to promote community exchange through sports and help future generations lead healthy and wholesome lives as they grow. We support Techno-Net Osaka, as soccer is a sport that fosters "compassion" and "conscience" in children, which resonates with our corporate slogan of "To the World, Together". Techno-Net Osaka was established in 1997 as the top team of the small Osakan junior soccer club FC Shigino. It started out from Osaka's bottom league, and climbed the ladder steadily to eventually become accepted into the Kansai regional league despite missing out on Osaka's prefectural league title for two consecutive years. Its club slogan is "Pride". It has undergone restructuring to become a team that each member can feel "proud" of, and continues to build "strength" with individual players taking the initiative in exploring its future path, rather than becoming a complacent advertising vehicle for corporate sponsors or the private property of the club owner.

2. Free paper project (community revitalization)

Under the concept of bringing vitality to our local people and community, Shodai is assisting the operation of a free paper / portal website that focus on Osaka's Minami district around Minami Senba and Shinsaibashi, targeting people who enjoy urban lifestyle. Various events are also being planned to revitalize the Minami district, especially the Senba area, to "bring people and communities together in the transition to the future". The Senba area was once a vibrant town, with the hustle and bustle of city life. However, the development of suburban shopping malls and diversification of business activities have reduced human traffic to this once-active community. Shodai is involved in the publishing of a free community paper called "Senba NAVI" to help revitalize this corner of Osaka.

3. Assistance for the tree planting project and succession of traditional cultures

Shodai is a supporter of the Senshu Danjiri-no-Mori Project, which highlights the use of timber in traditional Danjiri festival floats to examine the future of this festival. While the main Danjiri units are kept and maintained by local people for tens or even hundreds of years, the wooden wheels called Koma are expendable, with as many as 1,600 wheels used each year in the Senshu region alone. They are made with Japanese Red Pine, but acid rain, damage from Japanese pine sawyer beetles and reduced demand are casting doubt over the stability of supply for Red Pines large enough to make Koma out of. Shodai has taken the initiative in recycling scrap timber generated from the production of Koma and Danjiri, using the revenue to continue planting trees suited for use in Danjiri.
